SERIAN: Five civilians invited trouble unto themselves after they conducted an illegal roadblock at Kampung Daha Kisau, here on Monday night.

The male suspects, who had in their possession a pump gun, ammunition, machetes and other offensive weapons, had obstructed the three-way junction leading to the village using a PVC pipe when they were confronted by General Operations Force (GOF) personnel.

The weapons and ammunition seized from the suspects.

According to GOF Battalion 11 commanding officer Supt Rosdi Inai, his men apprehended the suspects, who were dressed in civilian clothing and hail from the same village, after establishing they were not Rela members.

“The activity of these five men was not known to the rest of the villagers. Upon arresting them for illegally conducting a roadblock, we seized the offensive weapons along with flashlights and other items for further investigation,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that at the time of the 11pm incident, the GOF personnel were carrying out a routine patrol of the Bunan Gega area.

These suspects, aged between 27 and 50, are currently being held at Serian police station pending further investigation.
